Mega Man 4 review

Welcome everyone to the mega man 4 review. Now after the success of the original mega man trilogy, many people were curious about where the franchise was headed next. Capcom had 3 mega man games already under their belt so what now. That's where this game comes in, mega man 4. Now lets see if this game is just as good as the first three games.

story
So this game starts off with a backstory on mega man. They waited till the fourth game to do that, wtf. We then see a new scientist named Dr. Cossack, a Russian scientist who declares he wishes to prove his superiority to dr. light by using his own robot masters to take over the world. So mega man must suit up again and stop Cossack from taking over the world. On his way he must take on some new robot masters known as Ring Man, Skull Man, Drill Man, Dive Man, Pharaoh Man, Toad Man, Bright Man, and Dust Man. Not exactly terrifying but then again they did have a robot named top man in mega man 3. So yeah, you go through the robot masters, steal their weapons, and go to the castle. And the castle is of course, Russian themed. So yeah once you make it to Cossack and his grabby, grabby claw, you see proto man who is now on the side of good. He teleports in with a girl who is Cossack's daughter Kalinka Cossack. It turns out that Kalinka was kidnapped by Dr. wily. Yup, wily has reached a new low people. Turns out wily was blackmailing Cossack to do his dirty work for him by kidnapping kalinka. But thanks to proto man, Kalinka is back. Wily then shows up declaring to finish the battle in wily castle. Mega man heads off to wily castle with Cossack apologizing for giving mega man hell. So yeah, you go through the castle, beat wily, and you save the day. So yeah, wily pleads for forgiveness and.....easily escapes via rotating door, the castle explodes, and the credits role. The fuck!? Well that was an odd ending.

gameplay
The gameplay isn't very different here. Mega man still controls the same as usual, and he still has rush with his abilities from the last game. He also has a new robot named eddy, who can be helpful when your health is low. Or if you need weapon energy. He can drop health, weapon energy, or even and E-tank. There is also some extra weapons in this game but there isn't much to say about them. The balloon item is just item 1 from mega man 2. And the wire can be useful when reaching a higher pathway or a power up. They may not be very useful in all the right departments, but get them ASAP. The level design is a bit more unforgiving then mega man 3. And by that I mean spikes, there are a lot of spikes in this game folks. That and bottomless pits, and some cheap enemy placement. Ok it's a lot of things. The weapons are ok at best, the only one I use on something other than the robot master it's weak to is the Rain flush, toad man's weapon.

Final thoughts
So this game isn't as good as the first three games but that doesn't mean it's bad. I definitely like the story except for the ending. Proto man is on the side of good which is good to know. So this game is ok, if you liked mega man 3, you'll probably like this game. But I guess it depends on what kind of player you are. I give this game a 6.5 out of 10, consider it. Next time we see what's going on with proto man in Mega Man 5. With all that said, take care, and keep playing.
